發源於阿玉山（一四四五Ｍ）流長七‧五九㎞，流域面積二四‧七三㎡，河床平均坡度三‧七三％，本溪上游河床大石林立，河流狹窄，且受山勢狹持，蜿蜒曲折，在圳頭出山谷後，形成平坦寬闊之沖積扇地形。
